Contact printing is the oldest method of obtaining a print from a negative. The negative is laid upon the photographic paper, and covered with a sheet of glass to ensure close contact. Light in then allowed to fall on the negative, producing exposure on the paper in the pattern of the negative.

Instead of using ready made paper, I decided to make my own photographic canvas using liquid photographic emulsion on top of canvas cloth.
